The purpose of Psychonon is to offer assistance to people with friends or family members in the mental health system, or who are struggling with friends or family members with serious mental instability.
Psychonon was founded to teach these three principles:
1. You can actually, personally, help.
2. Psychiatry does not work.
3. Drugs are not the answer.
With the new psychiatric culture of “medical management” and atypical anti-psychotic drugs prescribed for everyone from preschoolers to the household pet, psychiatry has become not just ineffective, but increasingly dangerous.
Some Background
When the founder of Psychonon picked up a psychiatric prescription for Zyprexa for her 19 year-old son and saw the price before insurance was $900 for 30 pills, she began to understand that even though the first pill caused her son to sleep for 20 hours, and did nothing for his symptoms, that she was up against a vested interest stronger than that for her son’s health.
When she went to the pharmacy to return 29 of the untouched pills, the pharmacy said they would give her the $50.00 deductible back, but she could not return the pills in order for the insurance company to be repayed. So her insurance company ended up paying approximately $150 to the psychiatrist and $850 to the pharmacy and Astra Zeneca for one pill that made her son comatose.
Alternatives
When a friend or family member experiences mental disturbance, he or she is not the only one affected. It can undo everyone around them. There are ways to help your loved one, yourself, and to protect your own health, sanity, and happiness.
You will, by default, become the captain of a runaway ship on stormy seas. But as you steadfastly steer the rudder, the storm will calm, and so will you.
Rule Number One
Avoid psychiatry.
